Mission Update: Christmas Store a Continual Success - Sister Act

Sister Act

The Miracle on Broadway Christmas store held at Wayside Christian Mission's Hotel Louisville allows needy parents to "shop" for toys, clothing, books, blankets, and toiletries.  Every family receives a delicious ham for a grand Christmas dinner, too! Once again, some 1200 needy families had gifts under the tree and a feast on the table thanks to the efforts of a lot of hard-working volunteers.  Two sisters, Carol Cook and Cathy Zirnheld, are the event's primary organizers.  Working with individual volunteers, corporate sponsors, and Toys for Tots, Carol and Cathy are determined that no child will be forgotten on Christmas morning.  One needy mom, who requested that her name be withheld, explained, "Carol and Cathy are angels from heaven!  Without them, my three girls would have no packages under the Christmas tree!  Please tell everyone how grateful we are!"

Mission Update: Sweaty Sheep Ministries - Sweating for a Good Cause

Local Pastors Break Into A Sweat For A Good Cause

We are grateful to our friends Ryan Althus and Alex Becker from Sweaty Sheep Ministries for their amazing donation of eighty pairs of running shoes.  These panting, pavement pounding purveyors of the Gospel of Jesus Christ minister to runners and cyclists and other athletes around the city, but they also have a heart Louisville's homeless population.  Their recent 5 K race raised enough money to pay for all of these running shoes.  We were even more pleased to learn that one of Wayside Christian Mission's resident clients participated in the race.

Ryan is a graduate of Louisville Seminary and is a certified triathlon coach and crossfit instructor. He worked as a chaplain in the Grand Tetons, a sailing instructor in Annapolis, and various other playful positions around the country. He has run over 20 marathons and three ironman triathlons.  Alex, who admits to being not quite as fleet of foot, pastors two churches in Henryville, Indiana.
